Catalyst Youth Volunteers

As a Catalyst Youth Volunteer, you have the opportunity to work closely with children and families to create a fun learning environment.

Orlando Science Center’s Catalyst Youth Volunteer Program operates year-round, and many of our volunteers return year after year. Volunteering at Orlando Science Center satisfies most middle school and high school community service requirements, and your dedication will make a difference in our community!

Due to the overwhelming amount of applicants, we are no longer accepting applications from 13 to 14 year old youth.

We are still accepting applications from youth between the ages of 15 years old and 17 years old (18 years old if still in high school).

Orlando Science Center is looking for teenagers between the ages of 15-17 (or 18 if still in high school during fall 2020—spring 2021) to support us in our mission to inspire science learning for life.

During the summer, new applicants are considered for either the Catalyst Youth Visitor Experience Team or the Catalyst Youth Summer Camp Team. Catalyst Youth Visitor Experience Volunteers facilitate unique learning experiences in our exhibit halls through hands-on activities and perform scientific demonstrations for our visitors. Catalyst Youth Summer Camp Volunteers help monitor campers and facilitate classroom activities as either Junior Camp Counselors or Junior Camp Runners.

Volunteering at Orlando Science Center will help you build skills and create opportunities to continue learning and growing. Current Catalyst Youth Volunteers have priority over new applicants to continue into upcoming seasons and progress through multiple tiers of service.

The Catalyst Youth Volunteer Program is highly competitive and requires a complete online application (including essay response) and a letter of recommendation to be considered for a group interview. Due to the limited volunteer positions available, Orlando Science Center may not invite all applicants to an interview, and not all interviewees will be selected for a team.

Applications for the Catalyst Youth Volunteer Program open twice a year for the Summer Season and School Year Season.

Applications for Summer 2020 are now open!

Due to the overwhelming amount of applicants, we are no longer accepting applications from 13 to 14 year old youth.

We are still accepting applications from youth between the ages of 15 years old and 17 years old (18 years old if still in high school).

School Year Applicants

For new applicants interested in volunteering during the School Year, please check back to this page after summer. During summer, we will be accepting applications from youth ages 13 to 17 years old (18 years old if still in high school) to the fall volunteer program.
