Are you curious about a career in tech?

High school seniors, college students, recent grads and those looking to transition into a tech career are invited to Otronicon Tech Connect: A Day in the Life powered by Black Orlando Tech!

This event will introduce aspiring and emerging tech enthusiasts to the diverse career and entrepreneurial opportunities in tech by showcasing what a day in the life of a tech professional looks like. These tech professionals will also share their journey to their current careers.

Otronicon Tech Connect: A Day in the Life will begin with a 45-minute panel discussion by industry leaders from Black Orlando Tech, followed by a 30 minute Q&A session.  

Panelists include:

  • Bill Little - NASA 
  • Dr. Melissa Walwanis - Deputy Director of Research & Technology Programs, Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division
  • Ayesha Benjamin - Senior Enterprise Security IT Product Manager, EA Games
  • Dr. Maya Byfield - Founder and Director, Phenomenal STEM(ist) 
  • Gabe Perez - Certified Information Technology/Security Professional, Advent Health
  • Liz Lytle - Communications Strategist, Curley & Pynn

After the presentation concludes, attendees will be able to network with presenters in the exhibit hall.

Seating in the Digital Adventure Theater is first come, first served upon your arrival. Overflow seating will be available in the CineDome and includes a live-stream of the presentation and Q&A with the audience.

Who should attend this event?

This program recommended for high school and college students and professionals interested in starting a career in the tech industry.

How will the check-in process work?

  • Please make your way to the vestibule doors located on Level 2 of the Orlando Science Center parking garage.
  • All guests entering OSC will need to take part in a temperature and health screening and will need to wear an approved face covering during the check-in process.
  • Once your health screening is complete, please make your way to the next available green target located on the SkyBridge.
  • A member of our events team will confirm your reservation in lobby and issue a wristband.
  • To expedite your check-in, please bring a copy of your email confirmation with the bar code ready and valid photo ID, to the check-in table.
  • Once you have been checked in, you will be directed to one of the two theaters for seating.

What safety measures will be implemented to keep participants safe?

  • As a prerequisite for admission, we are asking all guests to wear a face covering and have their temperature checked before participating in Tech Connect. While in attendance, all guests are asked to please follow social distancing guidelines and wash or disinfect hands frequently.
  • Face covering - must be snug fitting, secured with ties or ear loops, and cover the nose and mouth. Face coverings made of mesh or sheer material or with holes or valves of any kind are prohibited.

What is the schedule for the night?

  • 6:00 p.m. - Guests check-in at the Box office
  • 6:15 p.m. - Panel Discussion begins (30 mins)
  • 6:45 p.m. - Moderated Q&A Session (30min)
  • 7:30 p.m. - Networking with presenters and exhibitors (60 mins)
  • 8:30 p.m. - Program Ends

Where do I park?

Parking for Tech Connect will take place in the garage and is free, starting at 6:00 p.m.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellation and Refund Policy: All sales are final and will be honored only on the date selected so please be careful when purchasing. Except in the case of an event cancellation by Orlando Science Center, there are no refunds or exchanges allowed.

Otronicon Hours: February 12 - 15, 2021
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

General Admission: Otronicon is free for OSC members, $21.00 for adults, $19.00 for seniors and students, and $15.00 for youth (ages 2-11).
