University of Central Florida brings a Virtual Arboretum and More to Otronicon!

Check out how students and faculty at the University of Central Florida are revolutionizing the technology industry right here in our backyard. Innovators from UCF will be at Otronicon from January 18–21, 2019 to showcase their exciting work.


Here's a sneak preview of what you can expect to see from UCF during Otronicon!


Interactive Learning for Intergenerational Audiences - Presented by the UCF Institute for Simulation & Training, the E2i Creative Studio brings interactive learning experiences to Otronicon guests to explore how engagement can be stimulated by intuitive technology guided by excellent design. The UCF robotics club will also be providing demonstrations at scheduled times over the weekend where they will bring examples of human-computer interaction (HCI) to hold creative discussions with guests.


The Virtual UCF Arboretum Project - Explore a wild and beautiful virtual representation of Central Florida beauty in the Virtual UCF Arboretum. This unique and interactive multimodal visualization of terrain and plant populations offers the opportunity to enjoy and learn more about nature. See a pair of Bald Eagles crying, swooping, and soaring. Find native butterflies, dragonflies, and damsels. See wildflowers in bloom. Click on any of the botanically correct plants to open a world of knowledge!


ELLE the EndLess LEarner: Language Learning Videogame - Learn Portuguese from this exciting game in virtual reality (VR) on an Oculus Rift, or play on a laptop or phone (2D, 3D, and AR versions). ELLE the EndLess LEarner is an endless-runner style educational videogame designed to teach players vocabulary words in a foreign language.


UCF-Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy - The Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy, UCF’s graduate video game development program, will feature a unique mix of games, cinematics, and demo reels at Otronicon 2019. Faculty, students and staff will be available to answer questions about the game and simulation industries as well as what to study in high school and college to become a game developer.

Science Night Live Featuring Otronicon: Taking place on Saturday, January 19 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., SNL is a 21-and-up event, and requires a separate ticket. Click here to purchase SNL tickets.
