Launch Break: The Ringed Planet

April 27 at 12:00 pm1:00 pm

Astronaut waving - Launch Break A Speaker Series

Join us for lunch in space with our Launch Break speaker series!

Saturn, with its spectacular system of rings, is the jewel of the solar system. The Cassini spacecraft explored the ringed planet and its moons and rings from 2004-2017 and has helped us solve many of its mysteries while generating a wealth of new questions. Dr. Joshua Colwell will follow Cassini’s journey of discovery through the Saturn system, from the bizarre mountains of Iapetus to the geysers of Enceladus, the lakes of Titan, and the dynamic and evolving rings.

Faculty from the UCF Physics Department and the UCF Planetary Sciences Group, and educators from Orlando Science Center, will help us blast off into space and explore our universe. These talks are collaborative efforts with the Orlando Science Center’s Planet Pioneers traveling exhibit. This exhibit helps you learn through the planet pioneers how to survive on another planet and travel to Mars and beyond! This exhibit will be on display through May 9, 2021.

This event is FREE, but you must RSVP HERE in advance to receive the virtual Zoom link to join.
