21st Annual Track Shack’s Celebration of Running 5K

Saturday, August 18, 2012, 7:30 a.m.

Presented by Florida Hospital and the Track Shack Foundation, the 21st Annual Celebration of Running 5K will be held at the Orlando Science Center in Loch Haven Park.

Proceeds benefit the Orlando Science Center through the Track Shack Foundation and will be used to promote science education and provide engaging experiences for all ages in the community.

The 3.1 mile certified race kicks off at 7:30 a.m. and takes you through some of downtown Orlando’s most beautiful and historic neighborhood. About a mile of the route will feature the new Orlando Urban Trail.

Whether you run or walk, there will be prizes for all the division winners, and every participant gets a finisher’s medal, a T-shirt, post-race refreshments and interactive health screenings courtesy of Florida Hospital's Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation team.

The Celebration of Running 5K is part of a month-long celebration at the Track Shack. This event kicks off the 35th anniversary for the store and is the first of six premier Orlando running and walking races known as the Track Shack Running Series.

There will also be a Healthy 100 Kids' Run. Kids' runs are free for all children. Distances range from 100 yards to one mile and children will be placed in age-appropriate groups. Registration is on race day at race site. The first 125 registered participants will receive a T-shirt. The Kids’ Runs start and finish at the finish line.
