Explore the Science of the Senses from 7:00 p.m. to Midnight

Saturday, January 15 During Otronicon at the Orlando Science Center
Food, drinks, artwork, live music plus the sensory overload of Otronicon's interactive technology expo


Orlando, FL - January 7, 2011 - On January 15 during Otronicon, the Orlando Science Center invites you to Downtown Orlando’s most scientifically unique and socially inclined experience. From 7:00 p.m. - Midnight., Cocktails and Cosmos will be dazzling patrons with a variety of activities to entice their senses. This "event within an event" kicks off with “Happy Hour” specials from Ember Bar and an assortment of delicious offerings from a variety of Orlando's best eateries. Sample cuisine from Catina Laredo for those who love Mexican food, O’Charley’s classic American cuisine, excellent award winning smokehouse selections from 4River Smokehouse and to satisfy any sweet tooth Sprinkles Custom Cakes of Winter Park.  Cocktails & Cosmos is sponsored by Magners Irish Cider and will be providing samples of their intoxicating beverage for event guests.

Deejays from Side Project will provide the evening’s soundtrack with a unique duo performance of drummer and deejay that includes awesome lighting effects and rockin’ music to keep the crowd pumped. Should guests need a chance to decompress any between the action, they are invited to peruse art works by local artist Mason Flippin who specializes in street art and urban culture. Mason’s work is soon to be seen at the new downtown skate shop “On Lock Skate Shop.” In addition, guests to Cocktails & Cosmos can experience all the offerings of Otronicon, including Ultimate Rock Band, EA Sports Arena, the Virtual Reality of Virtusphere, plus multiple game stations, and medical and military simulators. In addition, guest will have the opportunity to view the crisp evening sky through the telescopes in the Crosby Observatory until 10:00 p.m.

While Otronicon is open to all ages, the Cocktails & Cosmos area on level 4 will be for guests ages 21 and up. Cocktails and Cosmos is part of "Otronicon After Dark" - a sampling of mature entertainment for adult guests. After 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday during Otronicon, the event will showcase competitions and activities with more grownup appeal. Families should note that more mature content will be featured at this time so they may prefer to attend Otronicon during the day.

Otronicon and Cocktails and Cosmos are are included with general admission, which is $17 per person and free for Orlando Science Center members. For parents looking for that rare "date night," an excellent childcare program that includes dinner and an array of fun activitiese will be provided. Drop off starts at 6 p.m. and pick up is by 12 a.m. Childcare cost is $25 for the first child and $20 for siblings. For more information or a reservation for childcare, please call 407.514.2112.
