Most people look at the Science Center as a fun and educational place to go on a Saturday afternoon...
What they might not realize is that we’re also trusted partners to the school systems of the areas we serve. Our educational programs supplement traditional classroom learning with a valuable informal education and serve to build on the foundation of knowledge kids gain in school. Most importantly, they further the mission of increasing competency in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) competency.
Our educational programs include:
- Field Trips
- Off-Site Programs
- School Break Camps
- Summer Camps & Academy
- Science Competitions
- Homeschool Programs
- Scout Programs
- And much more
These activities enhance classroom experience and provide students with a different way of looking at science, math and technology.

Perfect for Your Little Ones
Melanie Turner is one of those people that can brighten up any room she walks into. She is the Early Childhood Interpreter here at the Orlando Science Center who adores her job and the kids she gets to work with. I have the privilege to get to know her a little better and learn about her experiences here at the Science Center.
Melanie started babysitting at the age of 11 where she found a natural love for working with kids. In her college years she volunteered at a preschool where she was able to get her hands on more of an educational aspect. During this time one of her friends told her about a summer camp with the Boy Scouts of America where parents are able to learn and do activities with their family while their young ones are being watched. She jumped on this opportunity and became the Small Fry Director (Preschool Director) at the camp for three years.
Melanie has been with the Orlando Science Center for almost two years now. She loves all of the hands on opportunities she gets to share with the kids. On of her favorite experiences here was Pirates Week. There are many workshops and events like Pirates Week that kids can take part of!
