Now Open on Level 3

The Careers for Life exhibit showcases the types of careers that save and help the lives of others. Its main purpose is to create awareness, inform and educate anyone about healthcare careers. But don’t just think this exhibit is just for middle and high school students interested in possibility starting a career in this field.

With the need to develop trained healthcare professionals, this exhibit is designed for everyone, from high school graduates contemplating on what they should major in while attending college, to former financial analysts looking to change careers and are attracted to the healthcare industry. And if you think this exhibit is just about nurses and doctors, think again. With information on careers in respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, radiology, physical therapy, EMTs, and more, Careers for Life is jammed packed with info on a multitude of careers in healthcare.

This exhibit wouldn’t be possible without a variety of healthcare partners. Many doctors and nurses donated their free time to help with this exhibit, but this is just the beginning. Careers for Life is Phase I of our master plan for the “Healthy You” exhibit hall. This 4,000 ft. permanent exhibit will feature everything you need to know involving “a healthy you” from lifestyles to careers and treatments. So say healthy and stay tuned for more exciting health information!

Some of you might remember TAM, the Transparent Anatomical Mannikin, on display at our old facility for nearly 20 years. Since TAMs stopped production in 1992, finding replacement parts became increasingly difficult and our TAM found herself in storage. New technology has allowed us to bring her back to her former glory.

TAM has been restored with a new mp3-based audio system. Once she played a single audio loop-now TAM puts you in control - buttons let you choose which organ or system to learn about. And her new voice? It’s none other than JoAnn Newman, the Science Center’s President and CEO! See TAM on display in the Careers for Life exhibit, which premieres on Saturday, April 17 as part of Mission:Nutrition III.
