STEM education is not just something that occurs in the classroom or on field trips, but also in the home.

As a parent, Orlando Science Center can provide you with a wide variety of materials, topics and at-home experiments that you can share with your children and feed their scientific curiosity.

We have also provided a list of sites you can visit, along with a short description of what you can find. Check out the links below for experiments that you can do at home with your children.

    A great site with math and science activities. 

  • USGS Education
    This site has a wide range of activities an learning opportunities divided by age groups, and covers kindergarten through twelfth grade. 

  • National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences – Kid’s Page
    This site includes opportunities to explore, perform experiments at home, and also provides games and other fun activities for kids. 

  • NASA Kid’s Club
    Kids can play games and explore Mars. There are also tips for parents and teachers for using the site. 

  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – Ocean Explorer
    Learn all about the wide range of careers that exist for someone interested in ocean exploration. 

  • Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network
    Don’t want to think big? Then think small, really small. NISE Net is a national community of researchers and informal science educators dedicated to fostering public awareness, engagement, and understanding of nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. 

  • National Institutes of Health – Children’s Page
    Links to a wealth of information on children’s health, including a way for kids to test their science IQ. 

  • National Weather Service – Playtime for Kids
    Learn all about hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and several other weather related topics. 

  • Space Place NASA – Parents & Educators
    Kids can read actual mission notes written by real scientists, create a space place t-shirt, and download posters.
