The aluminum-domed Crosby Observatory atop Orlando Science Center houses Florida's largest publicly accessible refractor telescope. This one-of-a-kind custom-built telescope, along with several smaller scopes, are available at selected times for solar and night sky viewing.

Peer through the powerful, 10-inch lens of the refractor telescope to view the planets, the four moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulas and double stars.

All activities and events in the Crosby Observatory
are weather permitting only.

In honor of National Astronomy Day on April 24, the Orlando Science Center held a full day of astronomically fun activities! This annual event gives astronomy-lovers a chance to share their passion with the cosmically curious.

Across the country, clubs, planetariums, observatories, museums, and enthusiasts hosted public viewing events, telescope workshops, hands-on activities, and presentations to increase awareness about their profession or hobby.

During the day, guests participated in solar viewing with telescopes. The Science Center was also open until 9:00 p.m. to offer night sky watching from the giant telescope in the Crosby Observatory. Astronomers were on hand to answer guest questions about the cosmos.
