Greenovations: Green Today, Here Tomorrow

Orlando Science Center celebrated renewable resources, recycling, green living, energy efficiency, and wildlife/habitat conservation with our annual event, Greenovations on October 15. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. many excited folks experienced eco-friendly activities with a family-friendly admission price tag of $5. This event was presented by OUC-The Reliable One with the support of Florida Renewable Energy Association and other community partners. Greenovations is designed to inspire and educate people about our impact on the world around us with educational speakers, hand-on activities and much more.

Many guest swarmed around Seminoles County’s Florida Natural Land booth to hold live snakes. The wide-eyes owls from Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge and Education Center attracted lots of excited faces. There were even Segways guest could test ride brought to us by Segways of Central Florida. Speakers from all over hosted presentations throughout the day ranging from the science of climate change to Florida’s energy policies to how to beat the heat in your Florida home. All of these activities and many more were enjoyed with some music from The Garbage Men performing on instruments made from found materials. Greenovations was a big hit among guest allowing them to get excited about making a difference in our environment by being more eco-friendly!
