Penguins 3D

Now Playing - General Audience

Narrated by veteran filmmaker and renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough, “Penguins 3D” celebrates the destiny of a very special King Penguin, who returns to his birthplace in the sub-Antarctic. Known as Penguin City, the island is home to hundreds of albatrosses, fur seals and brawling elephant seals — as well as six million penguins!

Somehow our hero must earn his place among the island inhabitants and fulfill his destiny by finding a mate and raising a family. What follows is the story of the most challenging time in a King Penguin’s life, when he is driven to nurture and defend his offspring against harsh weather and fierce predators.

This cosmic drama plays out in one of Earth’s last great wildernesses, amid steep mountain ranges and windblown plains half buried beneath snow and ice. “Penguins 3D” is an unforgettable tale of one King Penguin’s journey through his species’ central rite of passage.

The film was entirely filmed in 3-D, using state-of-the-art technologies, and on location in South Georgia Island, a British overseas territory located in the southern Atlantic Ocean.

Flying Monsters 3D (4:15 pm)
General Audience

More than 220 million years ago, dinosaurs were beginning their domination of Earth. But another group of reptiles was about to make an extraordinary leap as pterosaurs were taking control of the skies. The story of how and why these mysterious creatures took to the air is more fantastical than any fiction — and one of the greatest mysteries in paleontology. How did lizards the size of giraffes defy gravity and soar through prehistoric skies?

Driven by the information he finds as he attempts to answer these questions, veteran filmmaker and renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough starts to unravel one of science's more enduring mysteries, discovering that the marvel of pterosaur flight has evolutionary echoes that resonate even today.

Applying the same state-of-the-art 3D CGI technology that was used in Avatar, Flying Monsters 3D also employs pioneering scientific techniques that reveal new details about pterosaurs. From discovering pterosaur embryos that show they might have flown from birth to figuring out how a creature the size of a giraffe could possibly fly, Flying Monsters 3D will resolve mysteries that have intrigued scientists for more than two centuries.

Animalopolis (11:00 am)
General audience
Animalopolis will take you on a voyage into the magical world of animals. A bit fanciful, a bit "Seussian" perhaps, a place of good natured humor, beauty and just plain fun for kids and their parents.

Animalopolis takes a lighthearted and imaginary look at a variety of animals including cheetahs that race like a Ferrari, bears that run their own fishing school, an operatic lion, sea lions turning somersaults, and much more.

With twelve hilarious segments, each featuring a different animal, Animalopolis will stimulate children's imaginations and curiosity about the creatures they're seeing, and remind us that nature provides humor and wonder, everywhere. For more info, visit the filmmaker's website at: www.animalopolisfilm.com.
