It was a BOO-tastic time!

Monsters, goblins and ghouls took over the Orlando Science Center on Sunday, October 31st at the 7th annual SPOOKTACULAR event where children discovered the secrets behind some of the most famous mythological and mysterious monsters. This fun-filled family event allowed over 1,200 members and guests to experience an entire days’ worth of activities, live shows, frightening costumes, scary experiments and of course, a lot of candy.

Little phantoms braved cobwebs and creepy crawlers that hung in the trees in KidsTown, while learning the truth behind “fairy tales” such as, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and Peter and the Wolf. Children were able to take a whack at Halloween inspired piñatas that were filled with delicious treats and fun prizes. In NatureWorks, a Gator feeding frenzy took place, as well as an educational team demonstration about snakes and scorpions.

DinoDigs was transformed into a spooky playground where guests of all ages were able to take a spin at the ‘wheel of dares’. If you weren’t so lucky, you may have had to touch a hissing cockroach, a bearded dragon or even eat a bug! Children explored hieroglyphics - one of the oldest recorded forms of writing - as well as the historical importance of the Rosetta Stone. Guests participated in an exciting bingo competition, face paintings and a dig activity where little ones could dig for spooky spider rings.

Outside of the exhibits halls, guests learned all about blood, scabs and bruising, while letting our their inner mad scientist, as they watched experiments about dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
