Central Florida Families can enjoy Science Center, Mission Nutrition 5,
Bob the Builder™ – Project: Build It! and more for just $5 per person

Sunday, February 12, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

ORLANDO, FL - (February 6, 2012) - The Orlando Science Center, in partnership with the Walmart Foundation, has announced the next “Walmart $5 Day” will be Sunday, February 12. Thanks to Walmart’s generous support, all guests to the Science Center on February 12 will enjoy exhibits, films and live programs for the significantly discounted price of $5. General admission fees are usually $17 for adults and $12 for kids (ages 3-11).

Walmart $5 Day provides admission to all the Science Center’s exhibits, films and programs, including a special day of activities and displays on health and wellness. For many, this event presents the opportunity to experience the Science Center for the first time. This year marks the third year for this partnership between the Science Center and the Walmart Foundation.

On February 12, guests can participate in the fifth annual Mission Nutrition featuring displays and demonstrations on medical technology, nutrition and fitness. Several chefs will be on hand to host cooking demonstrations for healthy eating. Returning this year is the Physical Challenge Arena with activities like Wii Sports active video games and hula hooping. The Darden Adventure Theater will be transformed into a surgical amphitheater when a heart surgeon dissects a beef heart to explain how it works.

During this day of reduced admission, guests will also get to the experience the new exhibit, Bob the Builder™ – Project: Build It! Based on the characters featured in HIT Entertainment’s top-rated television series, this exhibit explores the themes of construction and teamwork and encourages children to “build” their knowledge through hands-on activities, discovery-based learning and play. After the exhibit, guests can lose themselves in a giant screen film in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, including the laugh-out-loud Animalopolis or the spellbinding Arabia.

“Walmart $5 Day is an incredible partnership that helps the Orlando Science Center to introduce itself to new audiences and also reconnect with those who haven’t visited in a while,” said Science Center President JoAnn Newman. “We really enjoy the energy of these events as we engage our guests in hands-on discovery. The Science Center provides a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with one another as they explore science concepts.”
