What's New

Double Your Impact Today!

You can make a difference for New KidsTown.

We are the Orlando Science Center and we’re in the imagination business. Children are our best customers. And business has been good.

For over 60 years, the Science Center has been a destination for inspiring curiosity and building stronger families. During that time, we’ve have seen a lot of changes.

The one thing that hasn’t changed is our steadfast dedication to creating the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.

Today the Science Center is looking back at all the amazing gifts that made us who we are today – the only museum in Central Florida reaching half a million people each year. Your support means everything to us. Thank you.

You were the kids that were inspired by experiences within our walls. Dreams took flight and inspired you to push further, learn more, try harder. Or you are the parents that view us as a haven for family togetherness in an increasingly busy world. The Science Center is more than a place, but a trusted friend and advisor that helps you grow as your child’s first teacher.

The Science Center continues to grow and our next big project is New KidsTown, a launching pad for new dreams, an oasis for young families, and a place to mentor tomorrow’s parents.

The only thing missing is you.

We are very close to our goal for this project and until August 31, every gift made to New KidsTown will be matched dollar for dollar by the Science Center board of trustees, up to $50,000.

New KidsTown will be bigger, better, and bolder with state of the art exhibits and experiences crafted by early childhood learning experts. It will become the number one stop for families in Central Florida.

Your gift today can be the key to unlock the potential of young minds for years to come.

The future is waiting.

September 12 & 13

The greatest show and tell on Earth, Maker Faire Orlando is a family-friendly celebration featuring local DIY science, art, rockets, robots, crafts, hands-on activities and more. A two-day festival where inventors, artists, scientists and tinkerers collide. It’s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning. With something for everyone, it’s one weekend you won’t want to miss.

The first Maker Faire, organized by the editors of MAKE magazine, started in 2006 in San Mateo, California. Branching off from the flagship Faires in the Bay Area and New York City are community-driven “Mini” Maker Faires. Last year, Orlando was recognized as a “featured” Maker Faire and was expanded to a two-day extravaganza. Orlando shares this distinction with only 14 other Featured Maker Faires worldwide in cities like Tokyo, Paris, Atlanta and Rome. This year, the can’t-miss event has grown even larger and will extend from the Science Center to the Orlando Museum of Art and include food trucks!

Reserve your Maker Faire Orlando tickets online and be entered for a chance to win a Deltamaker 3D printer package worth over $2,500.

Maker Faire Orlando 3D printer giveaway

Orlando Science Center Members enjoy free admission to Maker Faire Orlando and will receive an email from Orlando Science Center in August with instructions on how to secure their tickets. Members who obtain their free tickets online before the event will earn one entry per ticket into the drawing and will also experience reduced admission lines on the day of the event!

To celebrate National Relaxation Day, Orlando Science Center planned a variety of relaxing activities like yoga, reading to therapy dogs, making DIY bath bombs, meditative coloring, and sensory activities – fun for all ages!

We struck a yoga pose during interactive relaxation sessions with easy yoga stretches that anyone can do and de-stressed by reading to therapy dogs during the Paws for Story Time.

Special thanks to Blue Moon Yoga of Orlando and Be An Angel Therapy Dogs for helping us relax!

ArtReach Orlando stopped by with the Art Truck to treat Science Center members to a special project, making paper bag mushrooms! After our beautiful up-cycled crafts were dry, they were planted in front of the Red Tails monument for everyone to enjoy.

Special thanks to Doug Rhodehamel of the SPORE Project who led the workshop with Art Truck Artist in Residence, Jenn Benner and Social Justice Art Project Manager Brendan O'Connor!

Every second Monday of the month, Orlando Science Center opens an exhibit one hour early exclusively for members to enjoy themed activities and demonstrations. For more information about Member Monday, call 407-514-2158.

After 60 wonderful years serving the greater Central Florida community, Orlando Science Center has a great story to tell.

In 1955, a passionate group of volunteers banded together to educate and engage our community in the wonder of real science. They took their message directly to the people using “suitcase science” – cases full of experiments and demonstrations – and connected with people of all ages in schools, libraries, bank lobbies, even empty storefronts.

From those humble beginnings, Orlando Science Center has grown to be a focal point for education and exploration in our community, but one thing has not changed – our passion for inspiring science learning for life.

In this video, many of our longtime donors and special friends share Orlando Science Center's story in their own words. Their heartfelt words remind us why what we do is so important.
