Saturday, October 5, 2013

ORLANDO, Fla. (April 26, 2013)—Orlando Science Center has partnered with Orlando Mini Maker Faire and will host the second annual event on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Event schedule and ticket prices will be announced at a later date.

ABOUT ORLANDO MINI MAKER FAIRE

Orlando Mini Maker Faire is a community-organized, family-friendly celebration featuring local do-it-yourself science and technology, art, rockets, robots, crafts, music, and more. It’s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning.

The individuals behind these exhibits are known as Makers and they range from tech-enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and come from many backgrounds. Science credentials are not required but a love for innovation and a creative spirit certainly helps. Orlando Mini Maker Faire features displays and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.

The inaugural Orlando Mini Maker Faire was held May 26, 2012 at the Orange County Fairgrounds and featured more than 100 exhibits from local Makers and groups, and the event attracted more than 2,500 guests.

This independently-run event is a derivative of MAKE magazine and Maker Media’s Maker Faire, the greatest show (and tell) on Earth. More than 300,000 people experienced Maker Faire events in 2012, so don't miss your chance to be a part of Orlando Mini Maker Faire on Oct. 5, 2013.

The collaboration with Orlando Science Center allows the event to be surrounded by four floors of hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations plus 3-D and giant screen films.
