Storytime (10:30 am)
Curl up in KidsTown with a good book! Science Center staff bring a book and corresponding craft to KidsTown. We read the book and complete a craft together, talking about elements of the story as we go along. Depending on the nature of the craft, StoryTime may happen under the Story Tree or at the blue craft tables. Story books are changed out every other week. Craft time works best when children bring an adult.

This activity is best for guests 7 and under when accompanied by an adult.

Discovery Zone (1:30 pm)
This program encourages young guests’ inquisitive nature by exploring simple science questions. Materials are brought out to the blue craft tables in KidsTown and a topic is explored with a Science Center staff member. The topics range from the rock cycle to germs and why we get sick.

This activity is best for guests age 7 and under when accompanied by an adult.

Stack It (1:30 pm)
Engineering and imagination come together as Science Center staff provide bricks, blocks or even cups to stack in creative formations. Make sure to take a picture of your building before you go, as building materials are shared by all.

This activity is best for guests age 7 and under when accompanied by an adult.

Dino Safari (3:00 pm)
Follow an OSC guide around Dino Digs as you learn about the amazing, ancient animals that walked the Earth millions of years ago. OSC guides are happy to answer burning questions, like “Are these real dinosaur bones?” Safaris are tailored to the audience depending on guests’ ages and interests.

Evening Viewing (6:00 pm)

Learn a little more about our place in outer space through the Crosby Observatory. We have a 10” Byers refracting telescope which is used to look at various celestial objects, (depending on what is visible in the night sky during the season), as well 8” and 10” reflecting telescopes. Our knowledgeable staff can even give you tips on how to stargaze at home!

Tickets to the Science Center are sold until 9pm, but guests already in the building can enjoy the Observatory until 10pm.

Please note: hours may change due to the weather. Inclement weather, such as thunder storms, can close the observatory.
