What's New

Sunday, August 24, 2014, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have a strong commitment to serving local communities and promoting educational learning. In 2008 alone, Walmart and its Foundations gave more than $66 million to fund educational opportunities across the country. Orlando Science Center is proud to be a part of this strong commitment by having Walmart $5 Day.

Walmart $5 Day makes it possible for the Central Florida community to visit the Orlando Science Center, and inspire science learning for life at a significant discount. Admission to the Science Center is cut down from the original $19.00 for adults and $13.00 for children (ages 3-12) to $5.00 for one day only. Guest will be able to enjoy all of the exhibits, live programs and giant-screen films OSC offers. This amazing opportunity is made possible by the charitable contribution of the Walmart Foundation. In 2009, Walmart gave $92 million to communities around the nation.

Aside from educational outreach, the Walmart Foundation also focuses efforts in workforce development, economic opportunity, health and wellness and environmental sustainability. In 2008, FORBES magazine recognize the company as the “number one most generous company overall.” They are always creating opportunities so people can live better.

Parking is available in the Orlando Science Center Parking Garage located directly across the street from the Science Center for $5 per vehicle. Free, overflow parking is available at each of the following locations: Florida Urology Associates/Orlando Cancer Institute, 1812 N. Mills Ave., Orlando, 32803; Magruder Eye Institute, 1911 N. Mills Ave., Orlando, 32803; and McCree General Contractors and Architects (two addresses), 500 E. Princeton St., Orlando, 32803 and 2100 Alden Rd., Orlando, 32803. Also, parking is available on the upper levels at the Florida Hospital Parking Garage on Alden Road for $5 (cash only).

One small step for man; one giant leap for science!

For the 22nd straight year, Track Shack's Celebration of Running 5k presented by Florida Hospital benefited Orlando Science Center. More than 2,400 runners woke up early and ran 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) to raise money for science education programs at the Science Center.

Race through the photos and remember that it's never too early to start training for next year!
