What's New

Walmart Foundation $5 Day was once again a huge success. Visitors of all ages engaged in an inspiring and educational adventure through the Science Center for only $5!

Guests were able to experience this summer’s traveling exhibits "Sportsology" and "Curious George: Let’s Get Curious!", as well as watching things blow up in the live "KaBoom!" show.

None of this would have been possible without the Walmart Foundation’s constant support. Thank you to all those who volunteered and participated!

On Friday, May 23, 2014, second grade students at Castle Creek Elementary imagined, planned and created windmill blades.

The workshop was the next installment in the “Engineering Our Future” initiative sponsored by Lockheed Martin in partnership with Orlando Science Center. The program utilizes the nationally recognized curriculum “Engineering is Elementary” and combines it with teacher support in the classroom as well as in-classroom student workshops provided by Orlando Science Center.

The Science Center recently earned their endorsement to become an official EiE collaborator through Museum of Science, Boston.

At Member Monday: Dino Adventure, Stephanie, a personified paleontologist, led the children on a tour of the most fascinating prehistoric creatures known to man — dinosaurs! As for hands-on activities, children made new discoveries by digging up fossils in the massive dig pit known as “Jurassic Ridge” and colored cutout dinosaurs to take home.

Mark your calendars for the next Member Monday on June 9 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. where you will get exclusive member time in Curious George: Let’s Get Curious. Enjoy early childhood programming geared directly toward your little ones inside the exhibition

Curiosity was at an all-time high at Saturday’s member preview for the new traveling exhibition "Curious George: Let’s get Curious!" Member families enjoyed stepping into a storybook rocket ship, building blocks in the architect corner, playing miniature golf, sorting through produce and getting comfy in the story corner. Members also enjoyed a wild visit from the Central Florida Zoo, where they got an up-close-and-personal encounter with George’s animal friends.

Members can enjoy the exhibition free with their membership now through end of summer 2014. Not a member yet? Click here to join now.
