More than 200 members attended an early member-only breakfast with Bob the Builder™ on Monday, March 12. Participants had the opportunity to enjoy a light breakfast from Einstein Bagels before the museum opened and every member took home an individual photo with Bob courtesy of Frank Weber at RF Photography. If you didn’t get the chance to meet Bob today, don’t worry he’ll be making appearances at the museum now through May!

More than 1,700 guests of all ages joined the Science Center to celebrate Halloween during the Spooktacular Science Extravaganza on Sunday, October 30. Trick or treating took place on every floor supported by themed activities.

There were strange new creatures that emerged from the NatureWorks lagoon, a giant stilt walker, and chances to decorate your own mask, enjoy facepainting or learn makeup tricks with fake scars and bruises. Guests could even play a round of Bloody Bingo or channel your own mad scientist with demonstrations featuring liquid nitrogen and dry ice.

For those that didn’t want to be scared, but wanted to see someone scary talented, local guitar whiz kid Alex Ivanov played two sets that day in the guitar exhibit.

As a benefit of Orlando Science Center membership, you have access to 280 museums and science centers across the country through a program called the ASTC passport. In turn, Orlando Science Center allows these participating museums and science centers access to the Orlando Science Center. The Orlando Science Center enforces the ASTC policy to encourage people to support their home museums with membership and encourage member visitation when they are traveling.

Based on ASTC’s policy, please know the following restrictions apply when using the ASTC passport program to enter the Orlando Science Center:

  1. To receive Travel Passport Program benefits, you must live more than 90 miles away “as the crow flies” from the center/museum you wish to visit. Admissions staff at Orlando Science Center will request proof of residence for benefits to apply.
  2. The admission is for general admission only, no films, no special programs or blockbuster exhibits.
  3. As of December 31, 2011 the Orlando Science Center will no longer honor reciprocal members with the home museum of MOAS, Astronaut Memorial Planetarium & Observatory, Discovery Center, The Florida Air Museum at Sun 'n Fun, and The Gillespie Museum.
  4. Science Centers/Museums located within 90 miles of each other are excluded from the Travel Passport Program, 90 miles is measured “as the crow flies” and not by driving distance. Please check that your home organization is on the list of approved centers before visiting.
