Take flight this November at the Orlando Science Center as we celebrate aviation month! Learn about the science behind flight from aviation-themed STEM challenges to drone demonstrations. Discover some of the exciting events we have going on throughout November below and remember to mark your calendars to fly in and have some fun!

Solar Viewing

Saturday, Nov. 5
Experience a more in-depth look at the closest star to the Earth – our sun! See beyond the night sky and learn more about the telescopes that let us explore the solar system. Join us from 3 to 5 p.m. and please remember that observing outer space in the Crosby Observatory requires good weather here on Earth.

Neanderthal Ball

Saturday, Nov. 5
Our annual Neanderthal Ball is a one-of-a-kind experience that blends an elegant cocktail party with a prehistoric mixer. The event helps support the Science Center’s mission, to inspire learning for life. All proceeds benefit the Orlando Science Center.

Bank of America Museums on Us Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6
On the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders enjoy free admission to Orlando Science Center! Cardholders will also receive 10% off on membership if they purchase on these two days. These deals apply to the cardholder only and does not include guests. Learn more here.

Parents Night Out: Science of Parenthood

Monday, Nov. 7
Orlando Science Center Members, join us for our first-ever Parent’s Night Out featuring parenting “snarkologist” Norine Dworkin-McDaniel. Join us at 6 p.m. for a featured reading of her latest book: Science of Parenthood: Thoroughly Unscientific Explanations for Utterly Baffling Parenting Situations, a Q&A, and a book signing.

K–8 Homeschool Program

Monday, Nov. 7
Dive into November with hands-on 60 minute homeschool workshops designed to supplement your child’s science learning! Solve STEM-tastic real-world problems or discover the world of crime solving alongside your child.

Veterans Day Promotional Deal

This Veterans Day weekend, we will be offering a free admission for veterans (with valid military ID) and half off admission for veteran family members (must check in with veteran).

Young Maker Workshop: KiteMaking

Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13
This month, Young Makers’ imaginations will take flight as they make and decorate their own kite while learning about the history of aviation and kite making. Weather-permitting, Young Makers will also have the opportunity to fly their kites in Loch Haven Park following the workshop.

Gobble It Up! Pre-K Holiday Workshop

Saturday, Nov. 19
Bring your preschooler to a workshop good enough to eat! For our Thanksgiving Holiday Workshop, participants will make edible turkeys, butter and aprons!

K–6 School Break Camps

Monday–Wednesday, Nov. 21 to 23

The Science Center will be closed for the holiday so staff members and volunteers can spend time with their families. We will resume normal business hours on Friday, Nov. 25!

Star-Studded Evenings

Nov. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26
Enjoy the Crosby Observatory from 5 to 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday evening beginning Friday, Nov. 11 and through Saturday, Feb. 25. See the planets, moon and stars in Florida’s largest publicly accessible refracting telescope. All events in the observatory are weather-permitting.

Register Now for Orlando Science Center Afterschool K–5 Program

Orlando Science Center is offering a new immersive afterschool program for students in grades K-5 to build 21st Century skills through enriching, hands-on STEM activities. Beginning January 17, students will experience an interdisciplinary approach to various STEM topics in an afterschool environment that fosters skill development over time while encouraging existing interests and passions. Monday through Friday, this program will provide students with a snack, outdoor recess time, homework assistance, and the opportunity to select from a variety of self-directed, project-based activities and everything the Science Center has to offer each day.
