What’s New at OSC

October is packed with fun for the whole family! This month highlights the spooky, scary, creepy and gross! Participate in experiments especially designed to delight, and disgust. On weekends, catch our seasonal favorite live show Ghostflusters and be sure to save the date for our members-only Halloween event!

 

Traveling Exhibit: Playing with Light

Open now through January 3
Shed light on physics and optics when you visit Playing with Light! Playing with Light features 22 immersive stations that use lasers, mirrors and more to put the power of light in your hands.

 

Live Show: GHOSTFLUSTERS

Showtimes on Saturdays and Sundays; check daily schedule upon arrival
Do you have a ghost problem? Then you need GHOSTFLUSTERS! They’ll come to your house to annoy, pester and fluster your ghosts until they’ll probably leave. There is no guarantee!

 

Laser Light Show: Pumpkins & Protons

See a laser light display in the Dr. Phillips CineDome set to the tune of your favorite Halloween hits, such as “Thriller,” “Monster Mash” and “Time Warp.


Homeschool Program

Monday, October 2
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join us monthly during the school year for a hands-on STEM workshop for homeschooled students, designed for your student’s grade level. The program also includes an educational film and time to explore our exhibit halls. Advance registration is recommended to secure your place.

 

Little Explorers: Homes & Habitats

Mondays, October 2, 9 & 16
Or Tuesdays, October 3, 10 & 17

These 45-minute workshops are designed for children 18 to 36 months with an accompanying adult. We will actively explore diverse topics in science through hands-on science activities, experiments, songs, movement and more. Come join us in this unique opportunity for you and your toddler to learn and grow together as you explore the wonders of the science world! Registration required.

 

Open for 1st Wednesdays

Wednesday, October 4
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orlando Science Center is closed most Wednesdays during the school year, but we’re now open the first Wednesday of every month for guests to enjoy their favorite exhibits in a quieter setting! The building will be open to the general public, but we do not book any field trips on 1st Wednesdays.

 

Little Learners: The Math Mystery

Thursdays, October 5, 12 & 19
These 60-minute workshops are designed for children 3-5 years with an accompanying adult. We will actively explore diverse topics in science through hands-on science activities, experiments, songs, movement and more. Come join us in this unique opportunity for you and your preschooler to learn and grow together as you explore the wonders of the science world! Registration required.

 

Bank of America Museums on Us Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders enjoy free admission to Orlando Science Center. Cardholders will also receive 10 percent off a membership if they purchase on these two days. These deals apply to the cardholder only and do not include guests.

 

Adults-Only Science Night Live

Saturday, October 7
8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Science Night Live at Orlando Science Center is your chance to spark your curiosity through our fun exhibits and programs… with some adult beverages, of course! Bring your friends, or make a date night of it, and join us for a unique and ever-changing experience that proves there’s no age limit on curiosity! This event tends to sell out, so be sure to reserve your tickets in advance.

 

Young Maker Workshops: Infrared Magic Wands

Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8
11:30, 1:30 & 3:00

Learn how infrared sensors work as you code your way to a magic spell in our infrared magic wand workshop! Create your own wand that interacts with our programmed magic lamp, where your gestures control the actions.

This workshop is recommended for guests ages 8 and up. Guests under 12 must bring an adult. Workshops last 30 to 40 minutes and space is limited. Admittance is on a first come, first served basis.

 

Pint-Sized Science Drop-Off Program: Kitchen Chemistry

Friday, October 13
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Pint-Sized Science is a drop-off program designed for children ages 3-5 to explore science with their friends. During this three-hour program, they will discover and learn about a range of science topics, from bubbles to physics to machines and more! They will be guided through simple lessons accompanied by hands-on activities and science-infused play. Registration required.

 

Inspiring Innovation Gala

Friday, October 13
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Orlando Science Center is proud to honor Dr. Peter Pritchard, world renowned researcher and conservationist, in his hometown of Orlando. Dr. Pritchard has made turtle and tortoise research and conservation his life’s work and has made an indelible global imprint.

 

OSC After Dark Party

Friday, October 13
8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Save the date and join us for OSC After Dark, the brand new Science Center event you’ve been waiting for! Dress to impress as you dance, drink, and dine with your friends on our picturesque rooftop terrace. Enjoy live entertainment ranging from science demos and animal experiences to henna tattoos and even bellydancing. Tickets are limited so get yours today!

 

Solar Viewing

Saturday, October 14
3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Head up to the Crosby Observatory and get a more in-depth look at the closest star to the Earth — our sun! After checking out the sun, learn about the telescopes that let us explore the solar system. Please remember that observing outer space requires good weather here on Earth.

 

Member Monday

Monday, October 16
9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

On Member Monday, join us for special activities in KidsTown, open to OSC members only, an hour before the museum opens to the public. Member Guest Passes are accepted for Member Mondays, so bring your friends along!

 

School Break Camps

Monday, October 16
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Give your child a productive and fun way to spend their time off from school with a program that offers students in grades K through 6 the chance to learn more about STEM in an exciting, interactive environment. Register early to secure your spot!

 

KidsTown’s 1st Birthday

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Put on your party hat, because the new KidsTown at Orlando Science Center is turning 1 year old this month! We’ve enjoyed a full year of exploring, creating, discovering and having lots of hands-on fun, and it’s time to celebrate.

 

Member-Only Event: Pumpkins & Protons Party

Round up your ghouls and goblins, because the spookiest time of year is almost here! If you’ve got a little monster at home who loves fun activities, dressing up in costumes and gathering lots of sweet treats, then join us for OSC’s NEW Halloween event!
