What’s New at OSC

January is Computer Science Month! Explore new technologies through fun, hands-on activities and demonstrations. Play with robots, design circuits, and learn about coding. Don’t miss our four-day Otronicon event, where you can discover how technology helps us live, learn, work and play!

 

Gingerbread Lane Holiday Exhibition

Open through January 7
Take a stroll down Gingerbread Lane to view houses and other structures built entirely out of edible materials by New York chef Jon Lovitch. Marvel at hundreds of pounds of frosting and gingerbread while enjoying the bright and festive winter wonderland atmosphere!

 

Traveling Exhibit: Playing with Light

Open through January 3
Shed light on physics and optics when you visit our current traveling exhibit, Playing with Light! Playing with Light features 22 immersive stations that use lasers, mirrors and more to put the power of light in your hands.

 

School Break Camps

Monday through Friday, January 1-5
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Give your child a productive and fun way to spend their time off from school with a program that offers students in grades K through 6 the chance to learn more about STEM in an exciting, interactive environment. Register early to secure your spot!

 

Open for 1st Wednesdays

Wednesday, January 3
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orlando Science Center is closed most Wednesdays during the school year, but we’re now open the first Wednesday of every month for guests to enjoy their favorite exhibits in a quieter setting! The building will be open to the general public, but we do not book any field trips on 1st Wednesdays.

 

Bank of America Museums on Us Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, January 5 & 6
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders enjoy free admission to Orlando Science Center. Cardholders will also receive 10 percent off a membership if they purchase on these two days. These deals apply to the cardholder only and do not include guests.

 

Star-Studded Evenings 

Fridays & Saturdays: January 5 & 6; January 19 & 20; January 26 & 27
5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
Learn a little more about our place in outer space through the Crosby Observatory, weather permitting. Our 10″ Byers refracting telescope is used to look at various celestial objects. Check out our Hollywood films schedule and catch a movie while you’re here!

Please note that exhibits are closed during Star-Studded Evenings.

 

Pint-Sized Science Drop-Off Program: Simple Machines

Friday, January 12
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Pint-Sized Science is a drop-off program designed for children ages 3-5 to explore science with their friends. During this three-hour program, they will discover and learn about a range of science topics, from bubbles to physics to machines and more! They will be guided through simple lessons accompanied by hands-on activities and science-infused play. Registration required.

 

Otronicon

Friday through Monday, January 12-15
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Otronicon is Orlando Science Center’s interactive technology expo and one of our biggest events of the year. Guests walk on the cutting edge through state-of-the-art technologies used in the fields of medicine, military and entertainment, including military and medical simulators not typically available to the public.

 

Adults-Only Science Night Live, Featuring Otronicon

Saturday, January 13
8 p.m. to 11;30 p.m.
Science Night Live at Orlando Science Center is your chance to spark your curiosity through our fun exhibits and programs… with some adult beverages, of course! Bring your friends, or make a date night of it, and join us for a unique and ever-changing experience that proves there’s no age limit on curiosity! This event tends to sell out, so be sure to reserve your tickets in advance.

 

Little Explorers

Mondays,  January 22, February 5 & February 12
Or Tuesdays, January 23, February 6 & February 13

These 45-minute workshops are designed for children 18 to 36 months with an accompanying adult. We will actively explore diverse topics in science through hands-on science activities, experiments, songs, movement and more. Come join us in this unique opportunity for you and your toddler to learn and grow together as you explore the wonders of the science world! Registration required.

 

Little Learners 

Thursdays, January 25, February 1 & February 8
These 60-minute workshops are designed for children 3-5 years with an accompanying adult. We will actively explore diverse topics in science through hands-on science activities, experiments, songs, movement and more. Come join us in this unique opportunity for you and your preschooler to learn and grow together as you explore the wonders of the science world! Registration required.

Traveling Exhibit: Mindbender Mansion

Opening January 27
Enter the wonderfully puzzling world of Mindbender Mansion! This eclectic exhibit that takes the concept of brainteasers to a dizzying new level with interactive challenges guaranteed to test the brain power and problem-solving skills of even the most experienced puzzlers!
