What’s New at OSC

What makes Florida unique? August activities will examine Florida’s identity by highlighting the unique features and attributes of the state. Learn about Florida-centric topics from animals that call Florida home, to roller coasters, to the wacky weather that affects the Sunshine State.

Shop to Support Science at Bloomingdale’s

Friday, August 4
The start of a new school year is just around the corner and Orlando Science Center is teaming up with Bloomingdale’s to make sure you go back in style. Bloomingdale’s will gladly donate 10 percent of your purchase to Orlando Science Center. Just drop your receipt off in one of the donation boxed located on levels 1 and 2 by the escalator. Get you school spirit flowing again as you discover science experiments and fashion advice littered around Bloomingdale’s Young World department. Be sure to RSVP to the Facebook event!

Bank of America Museums on Us Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, August 5 & 6
On the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders enjoy free admission to Orlando Science Center. Cardholders will also receive 10 percent off a membership if they purchase on these two days. These deals apply to the cardholder only and do not include guests.

Last Days of Extended Summer Hours

Friday and Saturday, August 11 & 12
This is the last weekend to enjoy the Science Center until 9 p.m.! Come in to enjoy all of our exhibits with smaller crowds, plus special events when the sun goes down. You will be able to watch a laser light show in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, catch a feature Hollywood film in the Digital Adventure Theater, or take a look at something out of this world in the Crosby Observatory (weather permitting). Extended hours will return next summer!

Pint-Sized Science – Senses: All Five & Touch

Saturday, August 11
How do you explore the world? By using your five senses! Join us as we introduce all five and their associated body parts, and then take a dive into the sense of touch through sensory exploration experiments. Registration required.

Young Maker Workshops: Constellation Paper Circuits

11:30, 1:30 & 3:00 Saturday and Sunday, August 12 & 13
We will be exploring non-traditional circuits made of paper and copper tape to  make our constellation paper circuit cards! Learn about parallel circuits and astronomy as you assemble a beautiful card featuring the constellation of your choice. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

First Week of Orlando Science Center Afterschool

Monday, August 14
This immersive afterschool program is designed to build 21st Century skills though enriching, hands-on STEM activities. This Monday – Friday program is open to students in grades K-5 and is designed to develop and engage interests and passions in STEM, arts, social studies, and other fields. Registration is still open but spaces are going fast, register your child today!

Track Shack’s Celebration of Running 5K

7 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19
Ready, set, GO! Get your legs moving and your blood pumping when you walk, jog, run, and raise money for Orlando Science Center during the Track Shack Celebration of Running presented by Florida Hospital. The 5K race starts at 7 a.m., the Healthy 100 Kids’ Run at 8:45 a.m., and the awards presentation begins at 9:00 a.m. to wrap things up.

Science Night Live! (21+ only)

8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, August 19
Join us for a night of science and socializing at Orlando Science Center! Gain late night access to many of our facilities and exhibits, science trivia and a special presentation from scientists in our community. Also food from Hard Rock Cafe Orlando. Purchase your tickets before they’re gone!

Sensory Sunday

Sunday, August 20
The Orlando Science Center is becoming more accessible by providing new sensory friendly experiences on select Sunday mornings. This sensory friendly experience will allow our visitors a chance to visit select exhibit halls at quieter volume settings with more light. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a movie with softer volume and more ambient light in our theater.

Solar Eclipse

1:20 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Monday, August 21
Visit Orlando Science Center as we cover one of the greatest scientific phenomena visible from Earth: A solar eclipse! Watch as the moon passes between the sun and Earth, turning day into night. Join Orlando Science Center at the museum or at select locations around Orlando for demos, solar activities and safe viewing.

Pint-Sized Science – Senses: Sight & Sound

Saturday, August 25
Eyes and ears, get ready to work! Complete some sight and sound challenges while learning how we use each of these body parts to interact with the world, and how each sense helps the other one do its job so well. Registration required.

Community Connections Day

Saturday, August 26
Orlando Science Center is honoring the groups and organizations who actively make positive social, physical, and psychological impacts within the Central Florida community. This event will coincide with the themes presented in our current traveling exhibit Identity, but will take place throughout the Science Center.
