Extended Hours for the Summer of Science

By OSC on June 7, 2017 in What's New

This summer, Orlando Science Center is making it easier than ever to experience our exciting and educational programming. Now through Aug. 12, visit any day of the week, and stay late on Fridays and Saturdays for even more time for science fun and fewer crowds!

Explore all four floors of exhibits, educational and Hollywood films, Laser Light Shows, and more. Plus, on Friday and Saturday nights, you’ll be able to have all of these experiences in addition to planetary viewings in the Crosby Observatory (weather-permitting)! New this summer, enjoy adult beverages available for purchase after 6 p.m.

If you’re planning a visit with friends and have a group of 15 or more, be sure to check out our discounted Group Sales rates and reserve your tickets in advance to save!

Bank of America Museums on Us Weekends promotion is also accepted for extended hours so if you are a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch cardholder, you can enjoy free admission the first full weekend of every month including Saturday, July 1 and Saturday, August 5. Free admission applies to cardholder only and does not include guests. Must present photo ID at admission.

Now Showing: U2 3D

7:50 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, July 28 – Aug. 12

U2 3D is a unique cinematic experience that puts viewers within the pulsating energy of a stadium concert given by the world’s most popular band. Marrying innovative digital 3D imagery and 5.1 Surround Sound with the excitement of a live U2 concert – shot in South America during the final leg of the band’s “Vertigo” tour – it creates an immersive theatrical experience.

Crosby Observatory

Peer through the powerful 10-inch lens of the refractor telescope to view the planets and stars! This summer you might be able to see Jupiter, Mars or even Saturn, depending on what is visible on the night of your visit. This one-of-a-kind custom-built telescope, as well as several smaller scopes, are available at select times for solar and night sky viewing. Be sure to visit the Crosby Observatory on a clear night for optimal viewing!

Laser Light Shows

Light and sound merge for a uniquely classic rock experience as Laser Light Shows return to the Orlando Science Center’s Dr. Phillips CineDome for a limited time. This summer, relive the excitement or make new memories with classic rock hits and a lineup including The Beatles, Pink Floyd and U2.

Hollywood Films

Orlando Science Center offers a 5:10 p.m. film Thursdays through Sundays year-round, but in the summer, a 7:50 p.m. film is added to the lineup as well!

Current films are Kubo & the Two Strings (July 13-July 23), and U2 3D (July 28-Aug. 12). Sing is coming soon (Aug. 3-Aug. 12). Click here for the theater schedule*.

*Schedule is subject to change.

Identity: An Exhibition of You

Our latest traveling exhibit Identity challenges our notions of personal identity using the familiar (our body, our thoughts, our relationships) to make connections with the scientific (our genes, our brains, our roles in society). Your own identity is front and center while you learn about genetics and biological identity; cognitive
science/psychology and personality; and social science and racial/ethnic identity.
